Disclosure: I received a free pass to Disney to explore Pandora. As well as some of the materials in this post was provided by Disney including but not limited to videos, photo pass pics, and other materials. That said, opinions are 100% mine.
Recently we attended an all exclusive pre-opening opportunity of Pandora The World of Avatar opening in the Animal Kingdom on May 27, 2017. The sneak peek was ah-mazing! Getting to see this amazing world up close was pure magic but I questioned myself as I looked around, is this worth seeing. The answer is YES!!!
Pandora The World of Avatar And Why You Will Like It
Just imagine yourself flying on the back of a banshee, walk under floating mountains and journey down a mystical river where the forest comes alive in a brilliant bioluminescent glow. What? YES, that sums it up!
Let’s start with food! Seriously the food was amazing! The Pandoran cuisine at the new Satu’li Canteen is a fast-casual restaurant, with a diverse menu offering many choices. It is the newest quick service restaurant added to the long list of amazing eats at the Animal Kingdom. You can start by having breakfast, with so many savory options to choose from like Vegetable Goat Cheese Frittata with Wood-Fired, Herb-Crusted Beef, also Pork Shoulder Potato Hash with Chorizo Sausage and Natural Jus, or a Steamed Pod (bao bun) with Scrambled Egg and so much more!
It was great to see the way they were able to incorporate fresh ingredients into a quick service restaurant.
We enjoyed how Satu’li Canteen doesn’t exactly serve up the usual fast food menu. Not at all. Satu’li Canteen combines creativity and mouth watering flavors in a menu inspired by the healthful bounty on Pandora, with wholesome grains, fresh vegetables, and hearty proteins.
Quick servel Satu’li Canteen offers these amazing bowls that allow you as the diner to customize your meal. You start with a base of quinoa and vegetable salad; red and sweet potato hash; mixed whole-grain and rice or romaine and kale salad. Next is either wood-grilled chicken, slow-roasted beef, sustainable fish or chili-spiced fried tofu. And the bowl is finished with charred onion chimichurri, black bean vinaigrette or creamy herb dressing.
“This is one of our first fast-casual restaurants that gives guests the ability to customize their meal,” said Wronski. “We played with the theme of Avatar, and ended up with the bowl concept that is healthful, lighter and with plant-based ingredients to tie back to the World of Avatar.” The guiding principle, he said, was to “balance creativity with dishes that are approachable.”
As I mentioned, the menu also offers steamed “pods” – bao buns with either cheeseburger ingredients or vegetable curry served with root vegetable chips and crunchy vegetable slaw.
Dessert is Blueberry Cheesecake with Passion Fruit Curd or Chocolate Cake with a Crunchy Cookie Layer, Banana Cream, and Goji Berries.
Next to Satu’li Canteen is Pongu Pongu, Pandora’s specialty beverage kiosk. “Pongu Pongu” means “party party” and this kiosk, as the story goes, was built by a human who befriended the local Na’vi Clan and built a place to gather and socialize. The name came from all the “wild and memorable times” Na’vi and humans had together there.
The signature drink is the Frozen Nectar (frozen limeade with layered flavors of Granny Smith Apple and Desert Pear topped with bursting mango boba balls) that glows with bioluminescent colors reminiscent of Pandora’s flora. There’s also a Screaming Banshee Margarita and Avatar Private Label Ale.
I can tell you these drinks are perfect for those warm Florida afternoon. they really hit the spot. For sweet snacking, Lumpia (loom-pee-ah), a pineapple-cream cheese spring roll, is also on the menu.
One of the most amazing rides in the park is the wondrous and beautiful Na’vi River Journey. This wondrous river adventure takes you through the bioluminescent rainforest where you will you encounter the mystical Shaman of Songs. this ride will leave you in awe of the World that is Pandora and bring you to tears with its beauty.
If thrills are more your taste then Avatar Flight of Passage is your ride. But prepared for this ride will leave you breathless as you soar on the back of a banshee. This exhilarating ride will take to a place you could only dream of before now.
This heart-pounding adventure transports explorers through the alien world of Pandora, offering lifelike encounters – splashing whale-like creatures, blowing the wind, roaring banshees, and a threatening encounter with a flying predator. Just a little side note this ride was so intense it left me in an emotional tailspin. I came off in tears it was that stunning. This ride is so beyond anything I have ever ridden before. Think Star Tours meet Soarin to give birth to this ride.
Pandora The World Of Avatar
Pandora The World of Avatar takes you to a mystical world of massive floating mountains, bioluminescent rainforests, and breathtaking new experiences. It is unlike anything I have even experience and I was in awe of it all. I truly felt transported to this world where humans and Avatar coexist with nature.
Will you like it? Is it worth the time to explore? YES! and YES! This new addition to the Animal Kingdom is everything I had hoped it would be and more. I am so excited to get to introduce my teenager to it and watch as his eyes fill with wonder again.
Are you excited about Pandora? Are you planning a trip to see it this year?
