Hola, and welcome to Mamacita on the Move, formerly Coupon Mamacita! If you’re a long-time reader, you know all about me by now, but I wanted to share a bit of my history with all my new readers who have come to my newly revamped site for the first time.
Why Mamacita on the Move?
So why have I changed my name? Like everything else in life, I’ve changed. I started Coupon Mamacita in 2010 so I could stay at home and spend more time with my daughter. For over eight years, I’ve shared my passion for saving money to my readers via Coupon Mamacita. In that time, I focused mostly on coupons, deals, and money-saving options, even though I also shared giveaways, travel, Disney and a few lifestyle topics. . These days, I still love my deals, but I also love sharing recipes, travel, and all the other things that make life so much fun. My focus in life has changed, so I wanted my blog’s focus to change as well. I’ll still be sharing deals with my readers, but I’ll also be bringing more travel, recipe, and lifestyle posts to everyone.
A Little About My Family and I
For those who haven’t followed my blog for years, I’d like to help you get to know me. I’m a proud Dominican, with a real love for my roots and heritage. My parents made sure to blend our Dominican roots with our new home in the United States, and it shaped me into a woman who is always ready for change while still firmly planted in the things that made me who I am. I even had that approach when it came to my education. I attended a private elementary school in NYC, private middle and high school in the Dominican Republic, and college in Miami, giving me a wide variety of experiences as I grew up. After college, I worked for years in corporate America before moving on to real estate and then my blog. Eventually, I moved to run my blog full time, and I was never happier.
I met my hyper Cuban husband, on a blind date, and we’ve been inseparable ever since. Later, our daughter, Marilu came to join us! She is a rock star, you guys. She was an all-star student in high school and went on to study at NYU with a full-ride scholarship all the way to her Ph.D. She’ll soon be graduating from college with a major in Engineering Computer Science and a minor in Public Policy, Business of Tech and Science Tech Studies, and then continuing on to get her Masters! Being Dominican and my husband Cuban, my family LOVES food. It’s been a huge part of our lives over the years, and we love trying new recipes and will be sharing some too.
