Fun family activities always make special memories. We are stuck at home right now and many even struggling with boredom, which means family nights are working a little bit differently around here. If you are looking for a fun way to spend more time with your family, family nights are a great option!

Just because you can’t leave the house right now, doesn’t mean you can’t plan a fun family night that your kids will remember!

These fun ideas are a great start and will hopefully help you find something that is the perfect fit for your family. Here are 13 fun family activities for everyone and for any night that everyone can agree on.

These fun activities for kids are easy and can be done with items that you already have at home. By now you have been enjoying the sound of laughter and hopefully not a kid yelling, “I’m bored!”

Now that the weather is warmer and we are able to go outdoors, there are fun ideas for, water-based activities, make bubbles, and about any activity that would involve getting them moving. One thing I am very happy about is that none of these require an electronic device! We are not worrying about too much screen time.

1. Family Movie Night

Not sure who’s the idea it was to get all dolled up in fancy clothes to sit through a show. Most of the time, it’s not the screaming, nor the parent who shelled out big bucks for those seats only to tick down the minutes until intermission.

Have YOU been there? I had, and too many times too! Why not trying a cozy family movie night instead? It’s way cheaper and more fun for everyone in the comfort of your home. Make it an easy memorable family flick night.

2. Stargazing

This is such an amazing experience for you and the kids! Now, getting them ready is another story. When we think of stargazing, we look at it as a springtime activity, but the fall is a beautiful time as well. As a matter of fact, when the nights get colder, there’s less moisture in the air making the sky even more clear.

3. Nature Scavenger Hunt

Do any of your kids like to play detective? I used to play with my daughter! I used to hide things from her and give her clues and other times, she used to like to hide things from me, but somehow it’s not quite as fun that way since she wasn’t very good at giving clues.

4. DIY Sundae Bar

A very creative party idea is a DIY Sundae Bar! Which kid doesn’t like ice cream or yummy decadent desserts? One of my favorite things about a sundae bar is that there’s no cooking or a lot of planning involved. Summer is almost here and this would go hand in hand at a BBQ, birthday party, or any fun event.

5. Time Capsules

There is no doubt that children will remember this pandemic. Separating themselves from their outdoor hobbies, school, and best friends, the family is tough. Mothers turning into teachers. Most importantly the time their family had to self-quarantine to keep others safe.

6. Quick Family Game Night Ideas

Having family game nights are such a great way to get the kids off their devices and screens. Fun games are a smart way to boost energy and decrease screen time, especially when the games are educational.

7. Make Homemade Pizza

There is no comparison to homemade pizza and buying pizza dough at a store is okay. You need two types of Mozarella cheese made with whole milk!  Keep the sauce as simple as you can and having a pizza stone is a huge plus.  Treat your pizza like it’s pasta, meaning that you should finish it with aged cheese and olive oil. YUMMM…

8. Draw with Sidewalk Chalk

Chalk art is getting more and more creative every single time we take walks. Even during the pandemic, there was a  social media challenge, such a great way to keep kids entertained. From happy messages on driveways to first responders, neighborhoods are filled with amazing artwork.

9. Take a Virtual Field Trip

Due to the convenience, Virtual Field Trips have become really popular these days. Check out this list of locations for virtual field trips appropriate for the kid to watch online as a family.

10. Family Book Club

Finding ways to spend time with the family is always a good thing and what better way than with a book club? Such a great opportunity to not only spend more time together but to also and explore interesting topics. It’s also a great opportunity to learn more about your child’s opinions as you help them develop the way they think.

11. Do an Art Project

A Bunny art project is a great project for preschool-aged kids, older kids will love this technique as well. Perfect for spring or Easter. Kids love getting messy and exploring with paint.

12. Animal Charades

This is one great and fun way to get the kids moving and using their imagination! Perfect now while they are in quarantine to keep them busy or on a rainy day. Kids, especially toddlers and preschoolers, like acting out animal sounds and actions.

13. Camping at Home

Camping is a great way to build memories with your kids. Let’s face it, we don’t need to leave the house or go somewhere specific to enjoy making memories with our kids! Grab some sleeping bags, a tent and you are good to go.
