Today we’re talking about the best mobile apps for baby boomers. As I get older, I find that my technology needs change. These days, I’m interested in apps that help me manage my daily life and keep me on track. The apps I’ll be talking about today make my top 10 list of best mobile apps for baby boomers because they make life efficient, more organized, and far more manageable.
The Best Mobile Apps for Baby Boomers Make Life Easier
Due to my business, I’m always on the go. Events, blog posts, and all the other business-related things that go into Mamacita On The Move keep me hopping! I have a very little downtime, and I don’t want to spend one second of it doing mundane things that either take too much time or can cost me too much time if I make a mistake. That’s why the following apps are all on my top 10 list of the best mobile apps for baby boomers.
Find My Car
Find My Car is a great app for boomers or anyone who hates navigating parking structures, really. This app is not just for baby boomers! I know because I was losing track of my car long before I started to officially journey into the beginning of senior years. With Find My Car, we can forego all the wasted minutes of trekking through parking lots and parking garages in a vain attempt to look for our cars. This app allows easy location of the car so we can get on to more important things.
Tile
If there’s one thing I’ve lost more often than my car, it’s my keys, wallet, phone, and other smaller items. Again, I’ve been losing these things for most of my life, so Tile is an amazing app for me. Consisting of an app and physical tiles which you attach to your items, Tile works by constantly tracking those physical tiles that you’ve attached. It makes a great app for finding lost items or for tracking down items that have been stolen – fingers crossed that doesn’t happen!
Life 360
Life 360 is a great app for those of us who like to keep track of our family members. My daughter, Marilu just completed her degree at NYU, and she’ll be moving on to her masters at another state. I’ve gotten used to her living several states away, and Life 360 is a great app for helping me feel good with her gone. The app allows users to keep track of everyone in their lives so long as they’re all on the same network.
Gas Buddy
As a consummate traveler, I’m all about saving money at the expense of the travel that I love so much. One of the biggest travel expenses, if you’re road-tripping, is gas. Gas Buddy helps users find the best gas prices no matter where they are, allowing them to save money at the pump and the time it takes to find good gas prices the old fashioned way.
Sit or Squat
The name makes me laugh but what the app does sets it securely in my list of best mobile apps for baby boomers. As a frequent traveler, I’ve learned the importance of knowing where bathrooms are. Hey, when you gotta go, you gotta go. However, when you’re in the middle of a theme park of a huge mall, that can pose an uncomfortable problem. Sit or Squat is an app from Charmin that finds the nearest bathroom facilities for you!
Mobile Passport
Another travel app, Mobile Passport makes traveling outside the country. With this app, U.S. passport holders and Canadian visitors can submit their passport and declaration information to U.S. Customs and Border Protection with their mobile phone rather than having to carry around a physical copy. This also allows for access to separate expedited mobile passport lanes.
Skype
One of the best mobile apps out there for keeping in touch, Skype for your phone allows you to easily video chat with loved ones. That means you can have face-to-face conversations with your family members no matter how far away they might be.
Lumosity
The best mobile apps do more than make your life easier. Lumosity is an app that actually helps keep your brain healthy. The app has over 40 interactive puzzle, educational, and problem-solving games designed to keep the brains of older adults sharp. According to Lumosity, these games can improve cognitive abilities and memory. Although the science is still out on that claim, every little bit helps, and they’re fun anyway.
This app is a must-have no matter how old you are. There will be times when things are just too darn dark, and using your home screen won’t cut it. Enter Flashlight. This app turns a phone’s camera flash into a flashlight.
bSafe
Last but not least is safe. Again, this is one I love due to my travel schedule. I often travel alone, and we all know the world has become a crazy place. That’s why I love bSafe. This app creates a network of family, friends, and coworkers with which you can share your location. It also has a “Follow Me” feature allowing anyone in your network to follow you in real-time. I love having this when I’m off traveling.
The Best Plan for the Best Mobile Apps
All of these apps are great for making life easier, but they won’t do much at all if you aren’t on a great network. That’s why I love Verizon and its Verizon 55+ Unlimted plan. This plan makes it super affordable for baby boomers to have a great network and save serious money! With this program, people 55 and older get a great network for a fantastic price – $50 for one line or $80 for two lines with autopay. That’s an excellent value. Here’s what you get for your money:
- Unlimited 4G LTE Data
- Unlimited Talk and Text
- DVD-Quality Streaming
- Unlimited Mobile Hotspot (600 kbps)
- Verizon Up Rewards
- Mexico and Canad Included
If you’re 55 or older, consider taking advantage of the Verizon 55+ Unlimited Plan. It’s an incredible value from a trusted name in mobile service. To qualify for this program, you just need to be over 55 and live in Florida, Illinois, Missouri, Texas, or Detroit, Michigan. So take advantage of this plan and then take advantage of these 10 best mobile apps for baby boomers.

Great list! FInd my car and Tile seem to be right up my alley. Only issue would be that I’d probably lose my phone, and/or tablet and I’ll be back to square one again.
Yah me too. They have helped so much.
